U Nu föddes 1907 i Burma, då en Brittisk koloni.

När Burma blev självständigt från Storbrittannien 1948 blev U Nu landets första premiärminister. Han styrde sedan landet i tre omgångar, från 1948 till 1956, från 1957 till 1958 och från 1960 fram till militärkuppen 1962.

Saturdays’s Son är den tidigare premiärministerns självbiografi. Läsaren får följa med U Nu från födseln och genom hela hans politiska karriär.
